Sharon has been working with our 5 year old son since April this year. When she began weekly private sessions with him, he would only use 2-3 word sentences and would often get frustrated when trying to communicate his feelings and express his needs. Through engage and play, Sharon immediately identified the areas that required immediate attention and focused & prioritised her sessions around his weaknesses and needs and quickly turned them around and helped him in ways that he hadn’t been helped before at his educational settings (I.e. nursery and the first half of his year at reception). From the very first session I had explained to Sharon about my passion to encourage my son to talk more and how it was my overall priority as I could see how much my son wanted too and was trying so hard. Since April, the progress he has made in just the short space of 5 months has been phenomenal! he is using sentence structure, he is able to communicate effectively, and very rarely now gets frustrated. His confidence has just grown and grown each week and I cannot thank her enough for the amazing work she has put in to, not only his speech development but his confidence building, especially when it comes to socialising with his peers – something he had struggled with for such a long time prior to the sessions.
Not only did she bring out so much confidence in him, but from the very beginning she was able to identify areas he needed to to overcome to progress to the next stage of his SaLT journey. 5 months on, he has now begun a new chapter at school – Year 1 – and already a week and a half into the new academic year, we have already received positive feedback from his new teacher expressing how much his speech has come along. He has found a love for reading, interacting socially and his confidence has just grown to beyond heights and we cannot thank Sharon enough for the hard work she has put in to our sons journey so far. I can confidently say, her work has been absolutely outstanding and without her help, I truly do not know where we would be today. …
